SeXyKitty's mIRC v5.41 Configuration Page ::
The Zuh IRC Network has strived to create a place to chat that is both friendly and
allows users to choose a style to chat in that they feel comfortable using. With that
in mind I feel it is a great place for anyone to get together and chat.
A 12 Step Guide to Download, Install & Setup mIRC v5.41 (Complete with Screen Captures)
1. Download mIRC from http://www.mirc.com
2. When download has completed run setup and make sure it installs to c:\mirc
3. When done open and run mIRC. A shortcut should be in your start menu / programs.
4. A box with a picture of the author will show.
In the bottom right of that window theres a white box with a check mark in it.
Click it to remove the check mark and click the x in the top right corner to close it.
This will prevent that annoying message from showing each time you start and run mIRC.
View screen capture of 'About' window
5. As soon as you close that another window will pop up with "mIRC Setup" in the title bar.
- Fill in your Full Name. (only shows if someone does /whois nick)
- Fill in your E-Mail Adress. (only shows in a /finger nick)
- Fill in the first Nickname you want to use.
- Put in an Alternative incase that one is taken.
You do not have to but I always check the "Invisible mode"..all this means is that if someone other than an oper does a /who #channel they wont see your name listed cuz your invisible.

6. On the tab "IRC Servers" click the "Add" button.
Anothor window will pop up on top of the current one called 'mIRC Add Server'.
View Blank screen capture of the Add window
View Random Server Added screen capture of the Add window
In "Description:" type whatever you want to call it (ie: ZuhNet 'Different Server Name').
In "IRC Server:" type Meadville.PA.US.Zuh.net .. Click "Add" and it will go back to the previous window "mIRC Setup" with that server defaulted in the window.
Where Meadville.PA.US.Zuh.net is you can replace it with any of the other servers below or you can add them all the same way. Replacing each "Description:" with a different name (ie: ZuhNet 'Different Server Name')
Meadville.PA.US.ZUH.Net
Portland.OR.US.Zuh.Net
Buffalo.NY.US.ZUH.Net
UTwente.NL.EU.ZUH.Net
Hilversum.NL.EU.ZUH.Net
Randolph.MA.US.ZUH.Net
Maui.HI.US.ZUH.Net
WNY.US.ZUH.Net
Madison.WI.US.ZUH.Net
2 More Examples:
.
8. Skip the "Local Info" tab and go to "Options"
- Configure this how ever your prefer. My options goes like this"
- Check beside "Connect on startup"
- Check beside "Reconnect on disconnection"
- NO check beside "Pop up setup dialog on startup"
- NO check beside "Move server to top of list on connect"
In the connection failure, I check retry. This just automatically sets the client to start attempting to reconnect to the network your on if you loose your connection for some reason.
View screen capture of Option window
9. On the "Identd" tab for "User ID" put whatever you like (ie: nickname).
The ID is what shows for your user@host which is of no big concern if your not a constent IRC user.
View screen capture of Identd window
10. Ignore the "Firewall" tab and Click OK.
11. Click on Tools and go to Font. I recomend switching to 'Arial'. If not you start with a default font of 'Fixedsys' which is rather ugly to read. (Opinion Only).
12. Once connected to the network a 'Channel' window will pop up while you see all kinds of stuff flying by in your "Status Window"
View screen capture of Status window
There is an option at the bottom says "Pop up folder on connect" Uncheck this if you prefer not to see it.
View screen capture of Channel window
If you dont just type /list (to see a listing of channels) or /join #any_channel_name (to open a room you desire or join one that is already open) in the "Status window" upon connecting.
